There are 8 courses to be completed as part of the Short Learning Programme.

2. How do I register and pay for the 8 courses?
Once your application has been approved, admission will be processed. All courses are payable via the Academia Student Portal. The course offering is as follows:
Term 1: 2 courses
Term 2: 2 courses
Term 3: 2 courses
Term 4: 2 courses

Payment and registration must be done for each term. More details will be provided upon admission.

Course description

The objective of the CENTROW education programme is to facilitate access to learning opportunities, and to provide pathways to formal education for students from diverse backgrounds, and who have acquired workplace learning in the field of labour and employment law. Our programme is responsive to changes in the labour market and the labour dispute resolution industry and is shaped by our
partnerships with key labour market institutions, including the Commission for Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration (CCMA), Bargaining Councils and trade union organisations.

Course details

The Short Learning Programme consists of the following eight Continuing Education courses with each course related to the other, namely:
1. Basic Introduction to Law
2. Introduction to Legal Skills
3. Introduction to Principles of Labour Law
4. Principles of Collective Labour Law
5. Principles of Individual Labour Law
6. Introduction to Labour Dispute Resolution
7. Principles of Employment Equity Law
8. Principles of Social Security Law

Entry level requirements

NQF Level 6 or equivalent and relevant work experience that could include interaction with
employees, representation of employees or management in resolving issues affecting working
conditions.

Teaching & learning strategies

A variety of teaching and learning methods will be used in the delivery of the course. The teaching
and learning methods applied are a combination of contact and e-learning, self- study and other
learning methods which include learning session presentations, discussions, group discussions, student presentations, online discussions (on the learning management system (LMS), micro teaching, video presentations.
Case studies, interactive learning or open space learning may be used during sessions where more than one student is involved. The faculty often hosts guest lecturers who assist with teaching to expose students to international discourse in their disciplinary areas.

Course material & equipment

Participants are required to have access to suitable devices such as a Laptop or desktop computer
and sufficient access to Wifi/Data for all online learning activities. The lecturers will avail additional resources, including readings, case studies and recordings of the learning sessions, on the online learning platform.

Modes of delivery

The course will be presented Online making use of Pillar Seven's Learning Management System (Aspire).
